Documentos liberados após décadas de sigilo revelam que, nos anos 1970s, Israel estava empenhado em vender armas nucleares ao regime racista da África do Sul. Além disso, documentos da embaixada dos EUA no Irã capturados por estudantes, após a revolução de 1979 que derrubou o Xá, revelaram o interesse deste em comprar os mesmos produtos.
